Cycle Electric's rectifying regulators provide a smoother charge to the battery than shunt-style regs. This translates to longer battery and stator life and less stress placed upon the sensitive electronics that control your late-model motorcycle. Unlike shunt-style regulators that dump current to the ground to control voltage on Harley-Davidson alternators, Cycle Electric rectifying regulators block current to control the voltage.

This design reduces stator current (and heat!) resulting in less strain on the electrical components—and the motor, so you'll free up a little power, too. This reg is specifically designed as a replacement for OEM P/N 74519-88. 

This CE-320L regulator is specifically designed for 1989-1999 Harley-Davidson Softail models that have a battery mounted in the oil tank.  The “L” (low voltage) package is equipped with a low-voltage regulator specially tuned for the small battery mounted in a horseshoe oil tank—heavy charging plus hot oil plus little air-flow is a perfect combination of factors that can boil off your battery's electrolyte.

      When I first received it and placed it on, it continued to fall so I almost returned it. However, I found a method online that worked and it has not fallen since even after all the water and soap getting near it. I’ve placed it on a stainless steel sink so not sure if the method works on other surfaces. Clean the area with soap and water and then make sure there’s no soap residue. Make the water temperature hot and “heat up” both the steel surface and the suction. While it’s still wet, firmly place the suction and make sure it doesn’t move. That should do the trick!
